A nation run on-chain
Liberland is built on its own layer-1 public blockchain, designed to deliver e-government services to citizens — from identity and voting to company registration and the courts — all governed by the people who hold its tokens.
The technology
The codebase is a fork of Substrate, the same framework behind Polkadot, released under the open-source MIT license — the same license used by Bitcoin.
The chain is owned by holders of the Liberland Dollar (LLD) and governed by holders of Liberland Merit (LLM), making governance its founding use case.
A built-in decentralized identity system ties on-chain actions to citizens and e-residents, alongside NFTs representing land and other assets.
Tokens
The chain's operational token, used by validators and stakers to help secure the network and to pay gas fees for transactions, contracts, courts, and company filings. LLD is not a stablecoin — its price is set entirely by the open market. It is already tradable on centralized exchanges including MEXC, Coinstore, Emirex, BitMart, and Biconomy, as well as decentralized platforms such as Uniswap, Raydium, and Sunswap.
The governance token representing a citizen's stake in the republic. LLM determines voting weight in state decisions and, unlike LLD, is earned through contribution rather than bought or sold — it is not a tradeable currency, and no legal tender is mandated anywhere in Liberland.
Ecosystem
Anyone can explore the Liberland Blockchain at blockchain.liberland.site. Most functions are view-only for non-citizens, but anyone can install the Liberland Wallet, stake LLD as a nominator, and earn rewards — similar to earning interest in a savings account, but fully decentralized.
A two-way bridge connects the chain to other networks, so assets such as ETH, wBTC, USDT, XOR, and DOT can move onto the Liberland Blockchain for use in Liberland's exchanges, companies, contracts, and courts.
Set up a walletAny wallet address can register a Liberland company on-chain, with approval typically taking about a day and a Certificate of Incorporation issued automatically.
Contracts can be created, signed, and registered on-chain, with Liberland's official court available to act as judge when needed.
Land and other assets in Liberland are represented as NFTs, recorded transparently on the blockchain's registries.
Ministry budgets and reports, including the Ministry of Finance's real-time treasury overview, are published directly on the chain.
